This week on the 29^th of April Lisa Richards, Centre Principal, held the termly recognition lunch to celebrate the students who are demonstrating outstanding leadership qualities and making a valuable contribution to college life.

The students nominated are either Academic Mentors, Student Ambassadors, Student Council members or have been recognised by staff for their exemplary contributions to the College community and local community.

 

Student Ambassadors

Aimee Carr, Anish Lad, Julita Joshy, Kahdija Rahman, Ayesha Iqbal Kouser, Benedetta Bonsu, Jannat Begum, Yana Marcii, Taseen Tabrez, Joe Simensky, Abigail Finn, Taylor Schofield, Darllingting Uhunoma Robert, Freddie Ives.

Our Student Ambassadors are a team of current students who volunteer their time to support college events and talk about their own experience, to prospective students, as a student at 澳门六合彩开奖现场. They are seen as the most important people by prospective students and parents and are the 'face' of ASFC at our events. They do a fabulous job representing us and we are very grateful for their work.

 

Student Council

Mariam Alashe, Ethan Gregory, Sophie Kelsall, Alaishba Saleem, Mimra Butt, CJ Faulkner, Leah Norman, Shannon Brookes, Jess Greenough, Aleena Abid.

The Student Council this year has been amazing! They have all worked extremely hard in planning and organising events in college, coming up with creative ideas to make it fun but also ensuring they are representing the student body. They have shown excellent leadership skills but have also worked brilliantly as a team, supporting each other and the college community. 

Members of the Student Council visit SLT each week to represent the student voice. They have done this with positivity and professionalism. A real asset to the college.

A particular shout out to Mariam who, as President, has attended Governors meetings and spoken at events. Well done Mariam.

 

Academic Mentors

Charlotte Ivens, Georgia Heap, Keira Wilde, Philip Yang, Aaliyah Khan, Matilda Morton, Yugo Tsukagoshi, Aimee Ward, Cait Aldridge, Lucy Clayton, Riya Chandarana, Emily Fletcher, Harry Powers.

These students volunteered to take part in the Stamford Park Trust Academic Mentoring Scheme.  This scheme is designed to support students at both Rayner Stephens and Longdendale High Schools to make improvements to their achievement in the core subject areas of English, maths and the sciences, and optional subjects such as Geography, History and MFL. They have been dedicated to supporting other students but at the same time ensuring that their studies take priority. College has received really positive feedback from teachers/staff at both schools, they have conducted themselves in a professional, polite manner. Well done to you all.

Charlotte Ivens - Charlotte outside of college is an advocate & trainer of girls in sports. In particular football and hockey for which she plays, trains and referees at a county level.

 

 

Staff Recognitions

Joseph Oseo and Matthew Jackson – Joseph and Matthew have helped out with the Manchester City Girls Disability competition, gaining excellent feedback from the lead coach and really making the college look good. They helped to coach and referee games, which has allowed City to carry on with the competition, when they were struggling for people to assist. They volunteered in their free time and really smashed it!

Joe Bentley - Joe is a young leader for Beavers / Cubs in Hyde. He often gives his time to run events for them, such as a Christmas party. Joe manages his commitments as a younger leader with his studies exceptionally well, never missing deadlines and always completing homework to a high standard. Joe is a personable and friendly student who works well with his peers and always strives to engage in lessons, he is a super role model for the young people he works with and a great ambassador for the College.

Caitlyn Richardson - Is a superstar when it comes to helping us out at Psychology open events by turning up early and helping to set up the events. She is very friendly and approachable and always willing to help out!

Piper Hilton - Helped with the Realising Aspirations programme before the holidays. She supported students in the photography studio and helped small groups throughout the session. I was really impressed with her professional and mature attitude and found her to be an asset to my session

Lucas Porter - Is a scout leader and works extremely hard outside of college, taking part in extra-curricular activities to broaden his horizons. Some of what he's learnt here has overlapped with what he’s studied in geography, for example some beaches he has been to. It is fantastic to hear that he engages with the curriculum even when he is away doing other things.

Amanda Charlton - Externally Amanda is a young leader for a cub/scout group in Hyde. In college she is massively supportive of a number of IL learners in class and on trips/visits. Quotes on Cedar include Amanda is 'a fantastic friend' and 'an exemplary student'. Amanda has also made invaluable contributions to IL via the IL Q&A focus group.

Luciano Hunte - Plays for the college basketball team. He has attended every training session, played every match, and helps to set up and take down needed equipment. He has taken aspects of training sessions and led warm-ups before games start. He has been a captain on the court as well.

Teo Balmus - Teo has made exemplary contributions to the recent conference held by Bob Hindle.

Areeka Sheikh - Areeka has been an outstanding student ambassador for the English Department on several occasions. She is confident, positive and knowledgeable and always puts potential new students at ease. Areeka is also very exceptionally articulate and able to respond eloquently to a variety of questions. Areeka has also played a key part in two liaison events with local schools. Last year, she helped at the Year 9 English Festival and her organisational skills were very impressive and she was a very calm, commanding presence. In February, Areeka was involved in our Year 10 XL English Conference. She not only worked out a system which allowed large groups of students to move from place to place with consummate ease, but also played a key part in working with potential students in our English Literature sessions. Areeka is calm and confident and has a real ability to organise and streamline large events and a very enquiring mind. Thank you so much for all your help.

Jonathan Thompson - Johnathan has been the college rugby captain and best player all season. He has helped recruit others to the team meaning they could fulfil fixtures but also introduce people who hadn't played before to the sport.
